If you have a background in lasers, photonics, and instrumentation in the field of laser-cooled atomic systems, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. NPL are looking for an experimental physicist / engineer who can contribute to developing quantum devices that will revolutionise computing and metrology in the 21st century. In this flexible science-based role, you will need to be capable of working independently, managing your workload and setting priorities within a broader project team. ●Set up and run experiments to demonstrate and enhance the performance of microtrap based systems ●Build and maintain optical and electronic set ups to interface with microtrapped ions ●Manage your own workspace, including specification and procurement of equipment for your experiment ●Create modelling systems to inform future development possibilities ●Collect, analyse and disseminate experimental data in the form of scientific papers, conference presentations, etc. ●Develop test and evaluation capability to support UK industry needs ●Work with colleagues and external collaborators to develop commercial opportunities
